Why bother
Most July breakdowns were visible in April.
A weak capacitor, a clogged drain, a coil packed with dirt — these are cheap and boring to fix in spring. In the middle of a heat wave they turn into a compressor, an emergency call, and a ruined weekend.

Thermostat & controls
- Thermostat operation and calibration

- Blower motor operation and amp draw
- Blower wheel inspected for buildup
- Evaporator coil inspected and photographed

- Supply and return temperature split measured
- Airflow and static pressure assessed
- Duct connections at the unit inspected
- Cabinet panels and seals checked
- Visible biological growth or air quality concerns noted
Condensate
- Drain line cleared and flushed
- Drain pan checked for standing water and rust
- Condensate pump tested where fitted
Electrical
- Disconnect and whip inspected
- Contactor inspected for pitting
- Run capacitor tested against its rating
- Connections inspected and tightened
- Wire insulation checked for heat damage
- Compressor amp draw recorded
- Condenser fan motor amp draw recorded
- Fan blade and motor bearings checked
Outdoor unit & refrigerant
- Outdoor coil inspected and rinsed as needed
- Operating pressures recorded
- Superheat and subcooling measured where applicable
- Line set insulation inspected
- Unit level and clearances checked
- Reversing valve and defrost checked on heat pumps
Before we leave
- Written field report with your photos, delivered to your phone
