HVAC service in Waverly.

Waverly was settled in the 1830s, and when the state moved US 280 south of town in 2000, the old town was left standing. Older houses here were built long before central air, so comfort is usually a retrofit job, not a box swap.

Working in Waverly

What we actually run into here.

The town was sometimes called Pea Ridge in its early years. Waverly was on state maps by 1853 and incorporated in 1910, and old railroad houses still stand along Patrick Street, the old 280. These days it is better known for Standard Deluxe and the Old 280 Boogie, but the older homes are what shape our work here.

When ductwork goes into a house decades after it was built, it goes wherever there's room, not where the rooms need air. That's how you end up with one cold bedroom, one that never cools, and a history of being sold bigger equipment. The more common culprit is the return side. If the system can't pull enough air back, it can't push enough out, and more tonnage won't fix that. Better returns and sealed runs are usually the first step, and that's our ductwork and airflow work.

Sometimes the honest answer is a ductless mini-split in Waverly for the addition, sunroom or workshop the ducts were never going to reach. It costs less than rebuilding the duct system, and it solves the problem.

Summers are long and humid here, and winters are mild. That suits a heat pump well, as long as it's sized to the house. Oversized equipment cools fast and quits before it dries the air, so the house feels damp at a cool setting. We look at that on every AC repair call, and if moisture is the real complaint, our indoor air quality options may help.

Where we work in Waverly

Old 280, County Road 9 and the roads around them.

The town is mostly in Lee County and reaches into Chambers County. We cover both. In town we work along Patrick Street and County Road 9, which runs east-west through town, and out along US 280 in both directions.

Opelika is about 14 miles southeast down US 280, so Waverly sits on our regular route. If your system is past saving, we'll price a repair and a full replacement side by side, and start any new system off with a $49 Monarch Check each year after.

Questions we get

Waverly questions, answered plainly.

Do you cover the Chambers County side of Waverly?Yes. Waverly is mostly in Lee County and reaches into Chambers County. We cover both, in town and out along US 280 and County Road 9.
Can you improve comfort in my older Waverly home without tearing it up?Often, yes. Sealing ducts, adding or enlarging returns and putting a mini-split in the hardest room solve a lot without major demolition. We'll tell you what's realistic before you commit.
One room is always hot. Do I need a bigger unit?Rarely. In older houses it's usually the duct run to that room or a return that can't move enough air. We measure airflow and temperature split before recommending equipment.
Is a heat pump a good fit out here? For most homes, yes. Winters are mild and summers are long, which is where heat pumps do well. The key is sizing it to the house so it runs long enough to control humidity.
Do you install standby generators?Yes. Monarch is a Generac dealer, and we quote installs in writing.
Are you licensed, and do you offer financing or a military discount?License #2024071 with the State of Alabama. Monthly payments are available through Wisetack or, when Wisetack declines, another lender, pending credit approval. Owner Michael Stewart spent 8 years in the Alabama Army National Guard, and military customers get the service call free or 10% off repairs.
